Your sleep stays yours.

Dozely has no account, no servers and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what the app reads, what it keeps on your devices, and what never leaves them.

The short version

  • No account. Dozely never asks for your name, email or a password.
  • No servers. Your sleep and health data are processed on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We don't receive them.
  • No tracking. No ads, no analytics, no third-party SDKs, and we never sell or share your data.
  • Read-only Health access. Dozely only writes to Apple Health when you choose to save a corrected night.

1Who we are

Dozely is made by Elevated Systems ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Dozely app for iPhone and Apple Watch, including its widgets and complications, and this website.

2Data Dozely reads from Apple Health

With your permission, Dozely reads the following from Apple Health on your iPhone. You choose which types to allow, and you can change that at any time.

Health dataWhat Dozely uses it for
Sleep, including sleep stages and the name of the app or device that recorded itYour nightly score, time asleep, sleep stages timeline, sleep debt, consistency and trends
Heart rateSleeping heart rate and the heart-rate overlay on your stages
Heart rate variabilityOvernight HRV and the HRV overlay
Respiratory rateBreathing rate and the breathing overlay
Blood oxygenBlood oxygen and the oxygen overlay
Sleeping wrist temperatureDozely asks for permission to read it, but the current version doesn't use it

On iPhone, Dozely reads about the last two months of this data each time it loads your nights. The Apple Watch app reads your sleep, heart rate and heart rate variability from Apple Health on the Watch itself.

Dozely processes this data on your device. It doesn't keep its own copy of the raw Health samples; it reads them from Apple Health when it needs them. It does keep a few values derived from them, described in section 4.

We never use your Health data for advertising or marketing, never sell it, and never share it with anyone. It doesn't leave your devices unless you export and share it yourself.

3Information you enter

Dozely stores what you tell it on your iPhone, so it can personalise your score, plan and reminders:

  • Your setup answers, such as your sleep goals, typical bed and wake times, how long it takes you to fall asleep, how you feel on waking, caffeine and evening habits, your bedroom, the wearable you use, and whether you work shifts.
  • Your sleep profile: sleep need, target bedtime and wake time, chronotype and shift-worker mode.
  • Tags and notes you add to a night, and any custom tags you create.
  • Corrections you make with Fix this night (changed times, naps, and nights you hide).
  • Reminder settings for wind-down and morning summaries.

4Where your data lives

On your iPhone

Everything above is stored in Dozely's private storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS data protection. Dozely has no account and no servers, so there's no copy anywhere else that we control.

Your Apple Watch and widgets

To show last night on your Home Screen, Lock Screen and Watch, Dozely shares a small summary with its own widgets on your iPhone and sends it to your paired Apple Watch using Apple's Watch connection. The summary includes your score, time asleep and in bed, your bed and wake times, sleeping heart rate, heart rate variability, the source name, and your sleep profile settings. It isn't sent anywhere else.

Device backups

Dozely doesn't use iCloud Drive, CloudKit or any iCloud sync. If you back up your iPhone with iCloud Backup or to a computer, Apple includes app data in that backup. For Dozely that can include your settings, setup answers, tags, notes, corrections and the last-night summary, so your history comes back if you restore your phone. Backups are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.

5Saving a corrected night to Apple Health

Dozely only writes to Apple Health when you ask it to. If you correct a night, you can choose "Save corrected night to Health" and confirm. Dozely then asks for permission to write sleep data and adds a single "Asleep" entry for the times you set, marked as corrected by you. Nothing already in Apple Health is changed or deleted. Sample data can never be saved to Health. The Apple Watch app never writes to Health.

6Exports

Dozely can create a PDF summary of your last 30 nights for your doctor, and a CSV file of your nights. The PDF doesn't include your notes. The CSV does include your tags and notes. Exports are created on your iPhone and only leave it when you share them with the share sheet, to the people or apps you choose. Once shared, the recipient's own privacy practices apply.

7Notifications

Wind-down and morning-summary reminders are optional local notifications, scheduled on your iPhone. They never include your sleep numbers, and nothing is sent to a notification server. Dozely works fully without them.

8Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details or your Apple ID. Dozely checks whether your subscription is active on your device using Apple's StoreKit. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

9No tracking, no third parties

Dozely contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or other third-party SDKs, and it doesn't track you across apps or websites. The app's only network activity is Apple's App Store, for purchases and restoring them.

Some buttons open other apps or pages, such as the Health app, Settings, the App Store's subscription page, or your wearable's own app during setup. What those apps do is covered by their own policies.

10When you contact us

If you email support, we receive your email address, what you write, and anything you attach. The support email Dozely prepares includes the app version in its subject line. We use this only to answer you, keep it only as long as needed for that, and delete it if you ask.

11This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and its fonts are served from this site rather than a third party. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to keep the site secure and running.

12Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays on your iPhone until you delete it. You're in control:

  • Delete all my data (in the You tab, hold to confirm) removes everything Dozely stores on your iPhone: settings, setup answers, tags, notes, corrections, hidden nights, reminders, exports waiting to be shared, and the widget and Watch summary.
  • Deleting the app removes its data from your iPhone.
  • Apple Health data, including any corrected nights you saved there, stays in Apple Health. Manage it in the Health app.
  • Health permissions can be turned off at any time in the Health app (Sharing, then Apps, then Dozely) or in Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices.
  • Your subscription isn't affected by deleting data. Manage it in Settings.

13Children

Dozely isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app doesn't send your data to us, we don't hold any information about the people who use it.

14Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act may give you rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, or to object to how it's used. Because Dozely keeps your data on your own devices, you can see, change and delete it directly in the app at any time. For anything we hold, such as a support email, contact us and we'll help. We don't sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under California law.

15Security

Dozely relies on Apple's platform security: your data is stored in the app's private storage with iOS data protection, and Health access is controlled by you through Apple's permissions. No method of storage is perfectly secure, so we recommend keeping a passcode on your iPhone.

16Changes to this policy

If we change how Dozely handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the app or on this website before it takes effect.
